When Should I Apply For A Christmas Casual Job?

Every year, there is a three month hot spot for applying for Christmas casual roles in Australia.

The peak months are August, September and October.

You will see really early advertisers in July, and maybe some really late advertisers in November, but the main 12 week period is August to October.

How long do you have to apply?

Interestingly, some employers have long advertising periods and some very short.

For example, in 2019 David Jones started advertising in mid August, but applications closed on October 30. So you had almost 3 months to apply!

Of course, it's smarter to apply earlier in case they find enough people before the deadline.

Compare that to Wet ’n’ Wild Gold Coast in 2019. They advertised in August, with applications closing two weeks later. You only had 2 weeks to spot the ad and get your application in.
