Three Things You'll Need On Your First Day

By Jenny

When you start your Christmas casual job, you'll need to remember to bring three important things.

Luckily, you can get these all organised before you land the job, so you can look super prepared on your first day.

1. Your Tax File Number (TFN)

You'll need to hand in a Tax File Declaration Form to your employer. Most of the time, they will give you the form, but you'll need to have your TFN on hand.

Without a TFN, the ATO taxes you at a higher rate. Read more about getting a TFN here.

2. Your Superannuation Fund details

After you earn a certain amount, your employer will be required to set an amount of money aside to contribute to your super account.

If you are working different Christmas casual jobs each year, it is very important to make sure you pass on the same super account details to each employer.

You'll either be given a Superannuation Nomination Form which you can nominate your super details, or you can hand in a pre-filled form that your superfund has given you.

Read more about receiving super as a Christmas casual here.

3. Your bank account details

You'll need to be paid! Bring along your BSB (bank-state-branch number, it's 6 digits) and bank account number details, so you can fill out any forms from your employer.
